Stagetology is not a real word, but if it was, it could mean “the study of people on stages.” In this case, it is the study of all the ways in which music appears on stage, from rock concerts to musical theater. Musicians, singers, songwriters, composers, dancers, rappers, actors and even DJs perform in myriad ways on (and off) New York stages, so why divide them into separate camps?  Stagetology aims to explore and illuminate the increasingly-intertwined worlds of live music and musical theater in New York City. And what about the work that goes on behind all those performers – and the people who do it? What word can capture all of that?

Stagetology: On people performing.
